Valbazin-P Tablet
Valbazin-P Tablet
Albendazole & Praziquantel
Tablet
Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Albendazole
USP...........................................300 mg
Paraziquantel
IP.............................................50 mg
Description:
This combination of Albendazole
and Praziquantel offers broad-spectrum efficacy against a wide range of
nematodes, cestodes, and trematodes, including Fasciola hepatica (adult stage).
Albendazole, a benzimidazole
anthelmintic, inhibits tubulin polymerization, disrupting microtubule formation
within the parasite. It also impairs glucose uptake and interferes with
fumarate reductase, leading to reduced energy production, progressive depletion
of energy reserves, and eventual parasite death. Albendazole exhibits
wormicidal, larvicidal, and ovicidal properties. Praziquantel, a
pyrazinoisoquinoline derivative from the thioxantone group, acts by disrupting
calcium ion homeostasis within the parasite. It is believed to antagonize
voltage-gated calcium channels, leading to uncontrolled calcium influx,
sustained muscle contraction, paralysis, and eventual death of the parasite.
The Albendazole-Praziquantel
combination is indicated for both prophylaxis and treatment of infections
caused by tapeworms, roundworms, and flukes, targeting both adult and larval
stages effectively.
