Ascarzin Solution
Ascarzin Solution
Piperazine Hexahydrate 56.3% w/v
Solution IP
Composition:
Each ml contains:
Piperazine Hexahydrate
IP................................................563 mg
Description:
Piperazine
hexahydrate exerts its anthelmintic effect by inducing neuromuscular
hyperpolarization in susceptible nematodes, leading to reversible flaccid
paralysis. This paralysis prevents the worms from maintaining their position
within the host’s gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion through
feces. The anthelmintic active piperazine base concentration varies among
different piperazine salts, necessitating dosage adjustments based on the
specific formulation used. Piperazine hexahydrate is indicated for the
treatment of gastrointestinal nematode infections, particularly ascarids
(roundworms) and other nematodes in livestock and companion animals.
